In this unit you will learn all about ProDesktop which is a CAD package. CAD stands for Computer Aided Design and enables you to design objects to exact specifications and dimensions.
Create an object using ProDesktop. The more features you use and the more realistic the object then the better mark you will get.
What you need to do...
Create a range of 3D shapes
Create a range of 3D shapes and use the New Sketch tool to create a basic model which uses more than 7 3D shapes. e.g.. a robot
To get this level the techniques you use will be similar to a level 5 but your model will use more shapes, with more effects with better proportions, i.e. a complex robot with proportionately sized feet, legs, hands, arms, shoulders, neck, head and guns!!
Create a range of 3D shapes and have used both the New Sketch tool and Assembly technique to create a complex 3D shape (like the Van or Tank). you can use these tutorials for inspiration but if you just use them to create a model the max level you can get is a 6.
If you ever see this error message you must click on UNDO and correct what can not be extruded, rounded, chamfered etc.
Errors Watch out for errors in the left hand bar:
When there is a cross next to a feature you must right click and delete it – there is something on your drawing that can not be extruded and you must correct it.
Update Be aware of the update button and check it regularly - it looks like a traffic light and you must click it to update it.
New Sketch Whenever you create a new object, make sure you create a new sketch.
New Workplane You need a new workplane whenever you want to draw at a different angle / tangent or on top or below an object. Remember; whenever you create a new workplane, you must have a new sketch to go with it.
Name your features; whenever you extrude, round, chamfer etc, name it – it will help you in the long run if you encounter any errors or want to change anything.
